Hose reels are used to coil, unwind and
store lengths of hose used to convey gases and liquids in industrial
environments. Hose reels come in a variety of materials, including steel,
stainless steel, plastic, and wood. Most items include ports to keep fluid
flowing during rewinding. Hose reels come in many shapes and sizes.
The foldable gadget can be disassembled for
storage or transport. Portable hose reels usually have a handle and are
designed for manual movement. Live connected reels have specific gears that
keep the material flowing while the hose is still connected to the reel.
Storage reels are used for long-term storage of continuous objects such as
cables, hoses, paper or rope. Integral hardware such as reel, hose and nozzle
complete the hose and reel assembly.
Hose reels can be rewound in a number of
ways. Manual devices require a hand crank. There are also products using
electric motors, hydraulic motors, air motors or internal springs. Shaft speed,
terminal voltage, continuous current, continuous torque and continuous output
power are all used to describe the motor. Operating torque, operating pressure,
operating speed, operating temperature, power, maximum fluid flow, maximum
fluid viscosity, and displacement per revolution are all used to rate hydraulic
motors. Torque, maximum air pressure, air consumption, rated idling speed,
running noise, etc. are all used to describe air motors.
Hose reels can be used to wind, unwind and
store a wide variety of industrial hoses. Reinforced hoses are available in
many types including textile braids, wire braids, wire helical and other
multilayer or multilayer arrangements for heavy duty applications. Coiled
industrial hose is flexible, resilient, and relatively easy to store.
Corrugations, pleats, or helical corrugations are used in corrugated hose to
increase flexibility, compression, and elongation capabilities. Articulated
industrial hoses consist of rigid hose sections with movable "joints"
that can be rotated, positioned, or articulated. Multiple hoses are created or
bonded together in flat, ribbon or bundled arrangements in multi-element hoses.
Hose reels for pneumatic hoses and hydraulic hoses are also available.
